Presentation of the University
Quisqueya University (UniQ) is a non-profit private higher education institution recognized as being of public utility. It was founded in 1988 and started its activities in October 1990. It is composed of six faculties and totals 16 bachelor’s programs, 5 short cycle programs, 5 master’s programs and a doctoral school (PhD). Motivated by one of the aspects of its mission, scientific research, UniQ, through its Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (FSAE), in association with the Chibas Foundation, has been carrying out for several years a new agricultural research dynamic in Haiti. This research dynamic is increasingly recognized by various national and international organizations and entities, including the Haitian State, in particular. As a result, several research projects to which the FSAE has applied have been granted to it for execution.
Among these research projects, there are some that are financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) via the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), carried out in partnership with CIRAD (France) , CIAT (Colombia), CIP (USA), Cornell University (USA), Laval University (Canada), etc. Within the framework of these projects, one of the objectives is to complete the staff of researchers (senior and junior).
The aim of this call for applications is to recruit 2 researchers and specialists in the Entrepreneurship field (regardless of the country) to complement, but above all strengthen the current research team.

Entrepreneurship (post doctoral and research specialist positions open)
Nota bene :
(1) The Post doc is likely to bé transformed into a permanent position at the faculty (associate researcher and/or full time professor)
(2) The Master specialist can start his PhD while working at the faculty, under joint supervision with our academic partners.
Time: Full-time
Responsibilities: Day to day management of the Entrepreneurship Chair and its academic but scientific activities
● Co-Lead UniQ Entrepreneurship Chair
● Develop innovative ag Business Models
● Provide scientific leadership and creativity in designing and testing new business models in different agribusinesses
● Develop courses, trainings and innovative tools to coach entrepreneurs and business creators, both students and farmers
● Collect data and develop database in support of research and best practices
● Develop a close collaboration with our public and private sector partners
● Write scientific publications, reports, and presentations as required
● Organize and supervise the work of research support staff
● Develop new fundable research projects to keep the Chair financially sustainable.
Qualifications: PhD or Master degree, with training in entrepreneurship and agribusiness
● PhD or Master degree in entrepreneurship, management, agribusiness, food production
● Demonstrated experience in agricultural research, in particular with a commitment to conducting research to benefit smallholder farmers and agro entrepreneurs
● Experience in a coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs
● Experience in designing and running survey and field-based research program
● Experience with different types of agricultural innovative business
● Modelization, statistical and econometric skills; knowledge of computer applications and software for data collection, management and analysis
● Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in diverse partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, and interest in working on an interdisciplinary research team
● Good track record in project reporting, proposal development, and scientific publication;
● Willingness to travel extensively in Haiti
● Fluency in French with excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills; working knowledge of Haitian Creole or English is highly desirable.
Quisqueya University (UniQ) is a private non-for-profit Haitian higher education institution located in Port-au-Prince, which was founded in 1988, and is regarded as Haiti’s leading private university. UniQ trains new Haitian professionals at the B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels, leaders in the areas of Agriculture and Environment, Management and Economics, Engineering and Architecture, Law and Political Science, Education, and Health Sciences.
This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team that is involved in the development, testing and dissemination of tools, technologies and methods that will allow Haiti’s agriculture and agro-industrials sectors to grow in the coming years.
UniQ has ongoing projects with CIRAD (France), INTA (Costa Rica), Cornell University (USA), Colorado State University (USA), and Laval University (Canada). We are also a center of innovation of the Innovation Lab for Crop Improvement (USAID-ILCI).

Présentation de l’Université
L’Université Quisqueya (UniQ) est un établissement d’enseignement supérieur privé à but non lucratif et reconnu d’utilité publique. Fondée en 1988, elle a commencé ses activités en octobre 1990. Elle est composée de six facultés et totalise 16 programmes de licence, 5 programmes de cycle court, 5 programmes de master et une école doctorale (PhD). Motivée par l’un des aspects de sa mission, la recherche scientifique, l’UniQ, à travers sa Faculté des Sciences de l’Agriculture et de l’Environnement (FSAE), en association avec le Chibas, développe depuis quelques années une nouvelle dynamique de recherche agronomique en Haïti. Cette dynamique est de plus en plus reconnue par différentes entités nationales et internationales, dont l’Etat Haïtien, en particulier. De ce fait, plusieurs projets de recherche auxquels la FSAE a candidaté lui ont été octroyés pour exécution.

Entrepreneuriat (offre d’emploi spécialiste recherche post doctorat)
Type de contrat : Temps plein
Responsabilités : co-responsable de la chaire entrepreneuriat et de ses activités académiques et scientifiques
● Etre co-responsable la chaire entrepreneuriat de l’UniQ
● Pouvoir développer des plans d’affaires
● Fournir une direction scientifique, une conception créative et tester de nouveaux modèles économiques
● Développer des cours formation, et outils innovants pour encadrer les jeunes agro-entrepreneurs (cible : étudiants de l’option entrepreneuriat et jeunes entrepreneurs)
● Collecter des données et développement d’une base de données en appui à la recherche sur les meilleures pratiques
● Développer une étroite collaboration avec nos partenaires publics et privés
● Produire des publications scientifiques, rapports, et présentations lorsque nécessaire
● Organiser et superviser le travail de l’équipe de soutien de la recherche
● Développer de nouveaux projets de recherche à financer pour rendre cette chaire pérenne.
Diplômes : PhD or Master, avec une formation en agro-entrepreneuriat ou entreprenariat
● PhD or Master en entrepreneuriat, gestion, agro-économie
● Expérience démontrée en recherche en entrepreneuriat et/ou agro-économie effectuer des recherches, au bénéfice des petits exploitants et agro entrepreneurs
● Expérience en encadrement et suivi des entrepreneurs
● Expérience en conception et enquêtes, ainsi à que des recherches sur le terrain
● Expérience avec différent s types d’innovations agroalimentaires
● Modélisation, aptitudes en statistiques et en économie; connaissance des applications informatiques et logiciels de collecte de données, gestion et analyse
● Capacités démontrées à travailler en collaboration avec divers partenariats avec un large éventail de bailleurs de fonds et intérêt à travailler avec une équipe de recherche pluridisciplinaire
● Antécédents en rapport de projets, proposition de développement et publication scientifique;
● Volonté de beaucoup voyager en Haiti
● Français courant avec d’excellentes aptitudes de communications et de présentations écrites et orales; connaissance opérationnelle en Créole et en Anglais serait un plus.
