Doctoral scholarship in entrepreneurship and behavioral finance

Job Summary:

The candidate will do a “co-tutelle” Ph.D. in behavioral finance with the University of Strasbourg, France, and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB),Belgium, under the joint supervision of Profs. Anaïs Hamelin and Marie Pfiffelmann in Strasbourg and Prof. Ariane Szafarz in Brussels. The research program addresses the impact of behavioral biases on entrepreneurs’ financial decision making, both theoretically and empirically. A doctoral formation in management science will be part of the fellowship.

 

Job Description:

 We are looking for a highly motivated person with an interest in studying and developing new ideas. A strong qualification in applied econometrics is required. Scientific rigor and conceptual ability are key for this position. Previous knowledge in behavioural finance is a plus. Fluency in English is a must. French is considered as an advantage. Finally, the candidate should have the experience of writing a master thesis.

 

We offer a comfortable working environment in two top-level European research centers. The selected candidate will also participate to conferences, workshops and other scientific events.

 

Research centers:

The doctoral fellow will integrate both CERMi-CEB at the ULB and the LaRGE Research Center at the University of Strasbourg.

 

The Centre for European Research in Microfinance (CERMi) is a multilingual, international research centre based in Belgium (www.cermi.eu). The Centre Emile Bernheim (CEB) is the ULB’s research centre in Management Science, affiliated to the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (SBS-EM).

 

LARGE is one of the major research centers in finance in France. LaRGE Research Center excels in four major fields: behavioural finance, banking, corporate finance, and public finance (https://large.em-strasbourg.eu/). It has developed an active and strong international research network.

 

Practical information

The doctoral scholarship will provide the candidate with a financing during three years (with a gross salary of 1750€/month), starting on 01/09/2018.

To be considered for the position the candidate must fulfill one of the two following conditions:

  • Holding a five-year Master’s Degree in business administration, Economics or a related discipline (300 ECTS), obtained ( by September 2018) at least with honours (distinction) delivered by a non-French university.
  • Holding a five-year Master’s Degree in business administration, Economics or a related discipline (300 ECTS), obtained ( by September 2018) at least with honours (distinction) from a French university and Bachelor’s Degree from a non-French university.
