BABSON COLLEGE – Tenure Track Position, Assistant Professor of Family Entrepreneurship
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in the Entrepreneurship Division at Babson College (http://www.babson.edu). Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Entrepreneurship (or related discipline), show evidence of success in teaching entrepreneurship, and have an active research and publication track record primarily in family entrepreneurship. The position requires the ability to teach in one or more areas of entrepreneurship. Priority will be given to those candidates who also have experience working in family enterprises or other entrepreneurial endeavors (starting, owning or running a venture, corporate venturing, social venturing) or working with entrepreneurs (private equity, banking, policy, economic development).
We seek a scholar who looks at family enterprises through the lens of the family as the primary unit of analysis, and whose work brings new perspectives to the study of family businesses. Candidates who integrate the connection between entrepreneurship and other disciplines and who bring a global perspective to their teaching and research are particularly welcomed. Applications also are invited from candidates with an educational background in other fields (i.e., economics, sociology, political science, international studies, and liberal arts) or business disciplines (i.e., organizational behavior, marketing, operations, information technology, and finance) who can apply these interests to family entrepreneurship. Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as professional service within the college and community.
Babson College is the home of the 70 country Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Project (STEP) researching family enterprise, and the Diana Project that studies women’s entrepreneurship. For nearly four decades, Babson College has hosted the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BCERC) and the Price/Babson SEE program for Entrepreneurship Educators. A variety of programs are also offered internationally for executives, practitioners, students, and educators.
We welcome candidates who are passionate and committed to family entrepreneurship research and teaching, are willing to collaborate with faculty from other disciplines, exhibit intellectual curiosity, have a strong interest in curriculum innovation, can integrate the connection between entrepreneurship and other management disciplines, and provide a global perspective in their teaching and research. The successful candidate will be part of a team with Bill Gartner who recently joined Babson’s Entrepreneurship Division and a team of dedicated entrepreneurship researchers and educators including Matt Allen, Candy Brush, Andrew Corbett, Patti Greene, Donna Kelley, Phil Kim, Heidi Neck, Yasu Yamakawa, and Zach Zacharakis.
